Power Dynamics Innovations, PDI, is your one-stop shop for all hydraulic needs. We specialize in delivering complete turnkey solutions designed for seamless integration into both new and existing systems. Whether you’re building from the ground up or enhancing an existing setup, PDI provides comprehensive, end-to-end hydraulic systems tailored to your exact requirements.
What sets us apart in the marine industry is our unmatched commitment to full-service execution. PDI is the only company that manages every phase of a hydraulic system project—from initial engineering and component selection, to precise pipe and tubing routing, full system installation, final flushing, and commissioning.
Our approach doesn’t just benefit you today—it simplifies maintenance and service in the future. Because we design, build, and document the entire system, our team can quickly diagnose and service any issues down the line, reducing downtime and ensuring system reliability.
One of the best examples of our turnkey work is the General Arnold dredge project for Callan Marine. Power Dynamics provided complete engineering support for the spud handling equipment and the overall hydraulic design. This included the entire hydraulic piping system—spanning the spud systems and ladder hydraulics—as well as the integration of all hydraulic components, except for the ladder and swing winches, which were even incorporated into our design and controls.

This comprehensive scope enabled a fully integrated and efficient hydraulic layout across the vessel. Callan utilized our in-house manufactured Redox piping throughout the system. All our pipe spools were prefabricated, tested, and flushed in-house prior to shipping. This shop preparation significantly reduced field installation time, as well as the effort required for final flushing and commissioning.
PDI also supplied two 100 HP electric hydraulic power units (EHPUs) with a shared 300-gallon reservoir. These units were designed to handle multiple functions, including integrated valving for the jet water system, suction system, and ladder winch dog. We also incorporated the hydraulic Christmas tree winches into the system, providing both hydraulic power and the control logic required for their operation.
We even performed this full scope of work for the General Arnold’s idler barge, which included engineering support for spud handling and hydraulic system design; a containerized hydraulic power unit with reservoir, electric motors, pump, directional valves, and accessories; a 64 kW standby generator and associated components; a remote I/O control system with local station; spud lift cylinders with sheaves and mounting bases; carriage travel cylinders with connection bases; and full commissioning assistance.
To ensure everything functioned as designed, our team went on site to fully commission both the dredge and its idler barge—supporting a smooth handoff and seamless transition into active dredging operations
This project showcases our ability to deliver a true turnkey hydraulic solution. From concept through commissioning, PDI supplied this entire custom hydraulic system on the largest and most powerful cutter suction dredge in the United States dredging fleet.
